Francis Pegahmagabow was a legendary Aboriginal soldier who fought in the First World War. He was also considered the “deadliest shot”; Pegahmagabow earned this title, along with many medals, due to his highly-valued skills on the battlefield. One of the most recognizable skills he possessed was his dexterity as a sharpshooter—he was credited with 400 kills on the Western Front. In addition, he was a bold and tenacious soldier. He was not credited much for his bravery, though, despite having survived several injuries and illnesses, and continuing to battle nevertheless.
