Listen: In this passage, this is the first time anyone has agreed to sit down with the monster and listen to what he has to say. The entire time Frankenstein’s monster has been alive he hasn’t been able to speak to Frankenstein or anybody without them running away from him. He doesn’t understand why for the longest time, but he finds out when he sees his reflection in the pond and realizes he’s ugly. All he wanted was for someone to hear him out and listen to what he had to say. and for them to realize he really isn’t a monster, even though he looks evil, he is actually kind hearted and compassionate. Compassion: The words suggesting love and compassion are an emphasis on the fact that Frankenstein’s monster wasn’t the person that the people he met thought that he was. They based him off his looks instead of what was on the inside. They never sat down and talked to him instead, by his looks they automatically thought he was bad and ran away. That was the case even with his creator which made it even worse, but now the monster can express his love and compassion to Victor, which gives Victor the option to either forgive him or not to forgive him. With forgiveness comes the responsibility of taking care of the monster on Frankenstein’s part, but with Frankenstein not forgiving Victor comes death on the monster’s part. …show more content…
He had nothing and nobody. In the book, not only was the monster miserable, but Frankenstein was as well. Frankenstein deprived himself of sleep to make his dream human, but it didn’t even turn out the way he wanted. Not only was the monster lonely because everybody feared him, but Frankenstein was as well because he deprived himself of a social life while creating his monster.
