Three of the many themes conveyed in Frankenstein are ‘revenge is not the answer’, ‘think of the consequences of you're actions’, and ‘be responsible for your actions’. Revenge is not the Answer The prevalent theme ‘revenge is not the answer’ in Frankenstein can be seen in the interactions between Dr. Frankenstein and the Monster. Interactions between Dr. Frankenstein and the monster show theme ‘revenge is not the answer’ by showing the monster's sorrow upon finally enacting revenge on Dr. Frankenstein. “It is well that you have come here to whine over the desolation you have made. You throw a torch into a pile of buildings, and when they are consumed you sit among the ruins, and lament the fall. Hypocritical fiend!” (Pg 242) This displays the theme ‘revenge is not the answer’ by showing that after revenge, the monster feels sorrow for those he destroyed. For example, Dr. Frankenstein, after creating the monster, kicks the monster out and shuns him, leaving the monster with a longing for friendship and compassion. “God in pity made man beautiful and alluring, after his own image; but my form is a filthy type of your’s, more horrid from it's very resemblance. Satan hand companions, fellow Devils, to admire and encourage him; but I am solitary and the detested.” (Pg. 136) The selection exhibits Dr. Frankenstein’s inability to provide his creation with a proper family.
