Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR), our 32nd president, contributed significantly to the history of the United States from 1900 to 1940. During his four terms in office, FDR changed the way that people viewed the role of federal government. While addressing the problems of the time, he put forth legislation that he believed would help to solve the economic and social hardships that people were going through. First elected president of the United States of America in 1932, FDR faced the daunting task of dealing with the Great Depression. Millions of people were out of work, banks were failing, the stock market had crashed and there was literally, no food on the table.
With the death of Angelo Bruno and Stanfa in hiding and later imprisoned, a power vacuum was left with the Philadelphia crime family. The self-claimed boss, Philip “Chicken Man” Testa was murdered as well by a nail bomb infront of his home in 1981, and in the end, powerful Atlantic City captain Nicodemo “Little Nicky” Scarfo claimed victory as the new boss of Philadelphia. Scarfo brought a new and notorious regime at the top, as he allegedly ordered the murders of more than 30 people throughout his reign in the 1980s. He tried to gain more influence in New York with the five families through then-current Gambino crime family boss John Gotti but failed. Scarfo was soon indicted on massive charges and sent to prison for the rest of his life
Franklin Roosevelt was a very influential and important president in American history who had an immense impact on the American economy and social policy during the 1930’s and 40’s and throughout the future of America, he also shared some ideas with the author John Steinbeck. He idolized Theodore Roosevelt, and took great inspiration from him. He has served as president for longer than any other president in history, serving for three terms instead of the usual two that is generally accepted as the maximum amount of time that a president can serve. He drove America out of the great depression and through the second world war.

One that came to my mind was Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I believe he made one of the biggest impacts on this country as a president. He helped America get through a very difficult time and lead us through more.
Franklin D. Roosevelt had won the presidential election. He was the new face the new hero to help save the people he first announced a 4 day holiday in which all banks would close, reform and then reopen to better serve the people. He restored the public confidence and his 100 days in the office Roosevelt administration passed legislation to basically create jobs for people and start recovery. Franklin D. Roosevelt Franklin D Roosevelt was born 1882 and died 1945. He was the 32nd president of the United States and the only chief executive to be elected more than 2 terms in office. He served from 1935 to 1945,in 1932 the U.S. was in the mist of Great Depression, people were looking for new ideas, leadership, and hope. So the people elected FDR in hope that he had the answers.. . When he first got in office the first thing he did was sign new bills into laws as an effort to fight of the Great Depression.

On March 4, 1933 on the east side of the White House capitol, Franklin Roosevelt was inaugurated as the 32nd president of the United States. This address began the 1st of his 4 memorable and effective terms. Roosevelt ran for, and achieved various seats on the political ladder and climbed to the top becoming the president of the United States of America. Through the Great Depression and bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Roosevelt stuck to business and made decisions that shaped today’s beloved United States.

It is hard to believe Theodore Roosevelt was never supposed to become the President due to all of his significant contributions to the office and to the United States. Roosevelt agreed to be the Vice President of McKinley knowing that, assuming the role would end his political career. However, following the assassination of William McKinley, Roosevelt was brought back into politics where he became the President. Roosevelt was different from other presidents in that he saw the office as a legislative leader, brought many reforms that benefit modern America today, and handled challenges in a quick manner.

Theodore Roosevelt’s speech, Strength and Decency, included a variety of rhetorical strategies that allowed him to persuade educated, mature, and, strong men to become powerful and decent human beings. Roosevelt’s purpose of presenting this speech was to persuade the audience to behave like the strong men they are but with decency and manners because, in the 1900s, men behaved in a very manly fashion. However, men lacked manners and morality. Due to the very questionable propriety of men, Roosevelt was driven to address how men should act the way a real mature man would in order to further improve society. By using rhetorical strategies such as repetition, Christian appeal, and a serious tone, Roosevelt is able to show his audience how strength and decency go hand in hand.
