“I never had a brain until freak came along and let me borrow his for a while.” But maybe he did. Maybe he did and just did not realize. Max and Kevin were unlikely friends as they were complete opposites. At least that's what we readers think. Kevin moved in across the street from Max the summer before 8th grade. Max had given up on friends by this point. They eventually become friends. They had different personalities, but that made them perfect for each other. Kevin and Max were different but the same and made up freak the mighty. Max and Kevin are different in their confidence and size. Max is 6 or 7 feet tall and Kevin is about 2 or 3 feet tall. Max states, “Then Freak climbs up on his desk, which makes him about as big as a normal person standing up, and he starts shouting at the top of his lungs. “Order!” he shouts. “Order in the court! Let justice be heard!”(pg.85) For context, children were ridiculing Max and Freak confidently stood up for him.
