In addition, Frederick Douglass he soon revealed his dream of escaping this cruel slavery. Like other slaves, he always wanted to be a freeman and had faith in that. Then, he met Mr. Ruggles who helped him come to New Bedford and understand that slaves were free and safe. He found a job and started to work here. He could earn money and all the money that he made belonged to him, not no one else. He read the Liberator by William Lloyd Garrison and had a passionate about it. He began to attend anti-corruption meetings because he wanted to be in touch with more people, have more experience and knowledge in this, as well as increased the fire in his heart.
