Fredrick Douglass was an important African American figure in the nineteenth century. Douglass was born into slavery in 1818. He was an African-American social reformer, an abolitionist, an orator, a writer, and a statesman. He was named the “father of civil right movement”. He was the writer of the “Narrative of the Life of Frederic Douglass. The autobiography “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave, and Written by Himself” was written in first person point of view. This took place in Massachusetts in the year 1845. Chapter one of the book “Narrative of the Life of Frederic Douglass”, Fredrick Douglass was born in Talbot, Maryland. Lucretia was married to Captain Thomas Auld. Central plantation was where they all live and it was owned by Colonel Lloyd. Colonel was the one who employed Captain Anthony to be of his all overseer. Tobacco, corn, and wheat were raised in Colonel Plantations. The stuff ship and sell in Baltimore by Captain Anthony and his son-in-law. Colonel Lloyd have about four hundred slaves and they report to Colonel Lloyd’s central plantation monthly allowances of pork, fish and corn meal. During this occasion, the slaves get a set of linen clothing for year. The slave (adult) got a blanket. Mr. severe was Captain Anthony’s farm overseer, later he died and Mr. Hopkins became the new farm overseer. He wasn’t cruel like Mr. Severe. He was fair to everyone. The Great House Farm was were Fredrick Douglass grew up. When other slaves are sent an errand to the Great House Farm from a different plantations, they feel so special. On their way, they sing a wild song which is sad and joyful. Fredrick Douglass didn’t know the meaning of the song when he was a slave but now he can understand.
