The book shows glimpses of the life of Fredrick Douglass, and his journey from slavery to freedom. He talks about many important events of his life throughout the book. These events are turning points in his life, they also help show how he got there and what he learned. As a reader a question of relevancy comes up, is this book only to learn history or it has a deeper meaning and can be applied to situations in today’s world?
