Personally, I enjoyed Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an autobiography written by former slave, and anti-slavery activist Frederick Douglass. This autobiography of Frederick Douglass recaps a coming to age African male living through slavery. Frederick include the many hardship, suffering, dehumanizing, and cruel practice of slavery in his writing. This novel is one of the most influential piece of literature to fuel the abolitionist movement in the 19th century of the United States.
