Fredrick Douglass was an african amaerican leader he was born into slaver by the name Fredrick Agustus Washington Bailey. Douglass fled slavery in 1838 and went to New Bedford Massichusetts, to escape capture he boarded a train and disquised him self. After Douglass had escaped slavery he got a newly wed bride who he had met in Baltimore and married in New York and he married her under his new name Fedrick Douglass. Douglass was always interested in eucating him self he attended several anti slavery groups and abolitionist groups. Douglass was inspired by William Garrison when he saw him speak at the bristol anti slavery meeting.
Fredrick Douglass's experience stood out from the others because it shows how it was after and before, yet he doesn't tell his experience escaping slavery. In the source "A Narrative Of The Life Of Fredrick Douglass, an American Slave" It states " At the end of each week, pour the reward of my toil into the purse of my master (29) ... He believed me entitled to the whole of them... My discontent grew upon me. I was ever on the lookout for means of escape; and, finding no direct means... to make my escape... I left my chains, and succeeded in reaching New York without the slightest interruption of any kind.
He met two people, Ellen Richardson and Henry Richardson, who helped Douglass raise funds to buy his freedom. He was now a free man and safe from the fugitive slave laws of 1793 and 1850.
Frederick Douglass has accomplished many things in his lifetime. He taught himself how to read and write so that he could escape from slavery. One of his biggest accomplishments is that he was able to escape slavery. He failed twice at escaping slavery before he actually escaped. He escaped slavery in less than 24 hours at 20 years old and he arrived in New York City.
After two attempts to escape slavery, Douglass finally prospered. During the final effort, he thrived with help of Anna Murray, a free black woman in Baltimore. Douglass gained access to identification of an African American sailor; which he used for himself to pass off as the sailor. On September 3, 1838, Douglass embarked a train to Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Frederick Douglass He was born into slavery and worked on a slave farm in Maryland and in Baltimore when he was very young. Although Douglass got a bit more freedom than any other slave did down south. Slave were allowed or granted with nothing at all because they were slaves and people believe that they deserve nothing but to work more very little or not at all. During his free time Douglass his slave owner's wife had taught him how to read and write but her husband ended that quickly. Shortly after that he found ways to teach him.
To prove them wrong Douglass wrote his autobiography “The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” in 1845 where he reveals everything about himself. With his identity known, and the world knowing he was a fugitive slave he was in danger, therefore he had to flee once again, this time to Scotland, Ireland, and England. In England he continued with his anti-slavery speeches, and such was the shock of the British that in December, 1846 a group of British man bought his freedom from Douglass’ former slave owner, and finally Douglass was able to return to the U.S legally a free
In his last chapter he doesn’t fully reveal the details and facts of his escape. The reason for this is that the individuals who helped him to escape would have been threatened and he cared too much for them. He also didn’t want to make it more difficult for other slaves to escape, because the way he escaped is still in use by some other slaves. Furthermore I believe if the masters would have known the escape plan, then they might would have guarded the slaves with more care and suspicious. Of course the reader was waiting for him to reveal his escape, but to withhold some information in this chapter is in my opinion a smart move from Douglass.
Fredrick Douglass was born enslaved,but he escaped to freedom. He became an outspoken opponent of slavery and a civil rights advocate. He lectured widely and even published his own newspapers. In this excerpt, I have learned the most important event that occurred in his life and why its important, the reason why he compared the enslavers to criminals, and the reason why he wished to be an animal. First of all, Fredrick mentioned in the excerpt the most important event in his life and why it matters.
Fredrick Douglass does not actually tell us exactly how he escaped in detail to the North from slavery because he does not want to give any slave masters information. Which makes sense because, he would not like to be giving slave owners an upper hand on slaves that do try to escape. One of the most important factors to Fredrick Douglass gaining his freedom is when he moved to Baltimore. I believe that is where his quest for freedom began.
With the help of a woman that he loved, Anna Murray helped him get off of the workforce of slavery. Frederick was on a train and was about to leave but then Anna gave Douglass supplies and a sailor uniform so that he can be recognized as "free sailor". Douglass made way into an abolitionist's home in New York. He went back to meet Anna Murray and they happily got married in September 15,1838. To keep his identity, he adopted the married of Johnson.
Frederick Douglass, author of the narrative by the same name, was a slave that was not physically free, but he was mentally. While other slaves did not realize that what was going on was wrong, Douglass did. He used his mentally freedom to become free physically free as well. Douglass’ hardships started the day he was born. He was born into slavery, like other African-Americans, and was constantly treated like dirt.
World War 1, also known as “The Great War,” began in 1914 and lasted until 1918 due to rising tensions in Europe towards the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th century. A sense of nationalism developed in Europe during this time for people sharing a common geography or culture. This sense of pride gave countries the motivation to imperialize other countries and force assimilation on them. At the same time, these imperializing countries were building up their armies to make conquering and battling other countries easier. Tensions increased even further, and the most powerful countries banded together in alliances.
