Fredric’s narrative is very captivating, it tells a great story through a truly insightful man. However the majority of his life outside of his narrative is unknown to most of his readers. The information that is given on the back off the book is very brief and not descriptive.. Most of the people who read the back want to know more about his life after his narrative and truly understand the character of Fredrick Douglas. When Frederick Douglass escaped he was assisted by Anna Murray. Murray kindly gave Fredric some of her savings, a sailor's uniform , and identification papers of a free black seaman.
