In a free market healthcare system, the price of health insurance is mostly determined by demand instead of the quality and value of the plans. The steady rise of price has been attributed to the ongoing need of healthcare. The more expensive the Pharmaceutical Industry makes non-generic brand medication the more the insurance companies must spend to provide their customers with their medicine. Data shows that Obamacare may increase the federal deficit by $340-$700 billion in the first 10 years of implementation. In addition to this, not everyone will be covered under Obamacare. The argument here is that if everyone was covered, it will cost the United States even more. On the opposing side, it is argued that costs of medication and plans would be lowered if health care was provided to all citizens. The universal health care system is classified under socialism because the government pays all bills and can distribute care as they want. Former President Ronald Reagan believed that the first step of imposing socialism on the people will be through medicine, and that "behind it will come other federal programs that will invade every area of freedom." This argues that the economy should set the price of health care instead of the government. On the other side, it is said that health care is a basic human right.
