McCandless isolates himself from the world and goes soul searching to find who he really is in hopes of finding peace. McCandless grew up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., and he is very talented both in sports and his academic work. At an early age Chris shows a love for the outdoors and has a very adventurous side of him that the rest of his family can see .
Into The Wild English Final “Into The Wild” is a partial biography written by Jon Krakauer describing how the body of Chris McCandless was found in the wilderness of Alaska. Mr. McCandless was a gifted athlete and scholar, who from an early age shows deep intensity, passion, and a strict moral compass. He discovered that his father had a second family while McCandless was growing up but wasn't told until he graduated high school. He wanted to leave society because to pursue a life of adventure and not apathy/routine while also trying to get away from his sleepwalker, money-driven/materialistic parents. He donated his $25,000 to charity, burned his wallet, drove his car to the middle of nowhere, and disappear in April of 1992.
The Alaskan Scavenger Hunt Into the Wild, a true story and now a book written by Jon Krakauer. This story is about a young self driven independent college graduate who gave all his money to charity, gave his car away and hitch-hiked his all of over the United States seeking for adventure and his Dream. Chris McCandless abandoned everything he had and left without telling anyone. After two years of his journey, Chris McCandless was found dead in a bus located in Alaska. He had eaten potato seeds which was a big factor on how he died.

There were multiple speeches and pamphlets that were given during the Age of Reason. During the Age of Reason the colonist were fighting for freedom from the British. Also during this time period people started to question their beliefs and way of life. The variety of different religions created during the Age of Reason was the Puritans and Deism. In Thomas Paine’s pamphlet “Crisis No.1” ethos is the most persuasive technique being used because he is able to relate to the patriots and convince the colonist to fight for their rights.
Everyday, people make decisions that define their lives. Some people act selfishly, and only act for personal benefit, while some give of themselves for the benefit of others. In Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, two characters exemplify these converse ways of life, one of them being alive and selfless, and the other being dead to humanity and selfish. Mildred, the wife of Montag the protagonist, epitomizes such a selfish lifestyle, while Clarisse, an eccentric seventeen year old, lives for the fullness of life and for the benefit of others. Through their contrasting actions, two lifestyles surface, and they demonstrate what it takes to truly live.
Book Arrangement Into the Wild displays, a picture of Chris McCandless on the first page then follows with a map of his travel route to the Stampede Trail in Alaska. There is no table of contents, but there are chapters in the book there is also an epilogue. Also, there is an author's note on how he compiles the book. There are several other maps inside the book, so the reader can understand where McCandless is on his journey.

Before Adam Smith’s push for this, it was common for governments to make most the decisions about what to trade and how much everything was. He wrote The Wealth of Nations to help this cause change. He also wrote that if individuals pursue their own self-interest, they would help the society (Doc C). Individual freedom is the key to a better economy as well.
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is a novel about a young man (Chris McCandless) who died while surviving in the alaskan bush. A central theme in this novel is that the ultimate freedom is to live in a world where the only laws one has to follow are the laws of nature. The author, Krakauer, reveals this theme through Chris showing solitude, hatred towards society, and the love of nature. The ultimate freedom is revealed through Chris’ solitude.
Mia Pegher Mr. Maggs Honors English 9 January 8, 2023 Into the Wild The golden rule, or “treat others the way you want to be treated,” is one of the most cliche statements of life, but is an example of how Chris chose to live his life. Chris McCandless, a twenty-one year old from Virginia, the son of Walt, his father, and Billie, his mother, spent his life trying to live life freely, not bound to materialistic objects. He travels to Alaska in hopes of finding purpose and meaning behind life, but unfortunately dies a few months into his excursion due to reasons unknown. His experiences on his journey are illustrated in the book, Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer.
Ray Bradbury’s love for reading caused him to write stories with a constant theme that humanity is weaker because technology consumes the human. In his early life after graduating high school, Bradbury would spend days on end in the library (Cisneros). He developed a love for reading there as he spent time there reading various amounts of books that contained different styles. Then, he began to write. On top of all of this, he lived in a time of great change where many technology advancements like the first color television came out in 1940 (Whitmer).
According to the article “Created Equal”, Milton and Rose Friedman discusse three different ways that are considered to be equal. It includes equality before God, equality of opportunity and equality of outcome. They also believe that the “freedom preserves the opportunity for today’s disadvantaged to become tomorrow’s privileged in the process, enable almost everyone, from top to bottom, to enjoy a fuller and richer life.” Finally, Friedmans conclude that a society that puts equality before freedom will get neither, and those that put freedom before equality will get a high degree of both. From my point of view, I do agree with Friedmans that equality of outcome is in clear conflict with liberty which government gets more power and getting bigger.

Jon Krakauer’s Into The Wild, illustrates how Christopher Johnson McCandless, the protagonist, is criticized for his failures and accomplishments. Krakauer’s bias and writing style influences the reader’s opinion of the protagonist and elucidates the grip wilderness had on American imagination, relationship between father and son, and the allure of high-risk activities for young men of certain mind. America is an argumentative and feeling country with debates around every corner; yet somehow it retains a respectable air for a majority of the time. However, to people who live outside of America, the idea of what America is or could be differs entirely.
