Shakespeare’s message is about free will and has determine the events in our lives. In his play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, all of the events that has happened was all because of the characters constantly altering what will happen. For example Romeo and Juliet deciding their secret marriage even though both of their families are in a feud with one another. Romeo kills Tybalt to avenge Mercutio’s death in a spur of the moments decision. And finally all of Friar Lawrence’s plans not going the right way, for example faking Juliet’s death. Romeo and Juliet are the main characters who were responsible for their action, most importantly their secret wedding. She then decides to go to Friar Lawrence and asks for help. His plan is to fake Juliet’s death, Juliet would have to drink a sleeping potion on the night before her wedding making her appear to be dead.After that she will be placed in a tomb where at this time Juliet would be awake, Friar Lawrence with the help of Friar John will send a letter to Mantua to Romeo about his plan. After all of that Friar Lawrence breaks her free from the tomb and will live with Romeo in Mantua. Juliet agrees to the plan and takes the potion from Friar Lawrence, however she becomes nervous and wondering if the potion would work. After a very long soliloquy, Juliet decides to drink the potion. She says “Seeking out Romeo that did spit his body upon a rapier’s point. Stay, Tybalt, stay. Romeo, Romeo, Romeo! Here’s drink-I drink to thee.” (iv. iii. 56-58). Tomorrow morning the nurse finds out Juliet is “dead” and tells everyone, and then her sleeping body was placed inside the Capulet’s monument. Everything was going according to the plan, except the letter that was sent to Romeo never reached him due to a plague in the city. Now Romeo doesn’t know about the plan and after hearing the news made him heartbroken. This sets off another chain reaction, Romeo buys poison from an apothecary which he will kill himself beside Juliet. He then arrives at the grave meets Paris and then killed him since he was in the way, his page then went on to call the watch for help, Romeo finally makes it to Juliet who is about to wake up and kills himself beside her. Friar Lawrence now has arrived to the grave and Juliet finally wakes up. The watch then approaches, Friar Lawrence flees because it was his plan that caused this big problem and Juliet decides kills herself with Romeo’s dagger.
