Yes, freedom of speech should be allowed in public schools, private schools, and everything in between. There would have to be limits set so people don't get angry or offended. On that note, social media SHOULD NOT be restricted by teachers or any school staff member. It's not their job to do that. Why should our freedom of speech not be restrained? Freedom of speech is allowed everywhere else, but not in schools?
It's understandable that school needs to be a safe, healthy, learning friendly environment. That's completely okay. But, that does not mean that we still can't say the things on our minds. Yes, they might be offensive to other people, but that does not mean opinions don't need to be heard. Also, not only should school be a safe, healthy, learning friendly environment, it also needs to be a place of acceptance. Of course, like everything else in school, there will be limits and rules. Like, for example, no profanities. Things like that make sense. But not being able to say something in fear of offending people or scaring them? That's insane. …show more content…

That's a free place. Somewhere that school is not relevant. School should not be brought into every part of a child's life. Social media is a somewhere that you can write whatever you want, whenever you want and for whatever reason that you want! This goes along with social media, if a student was to criticize a teacher or a substitute, that should not be a problem! A student could sit on Facebook, and completely bash Miley Cyrus, or Kanye West, and nobody would report that to the school, so why report a teacher or staff member? Yes, they may be famous and well known, but they're just people. They get criticized
