Romeo and Juliet, a play, marked with tragedy, fate and poor influence. The similarities between love and death emphasised by the greatest writer in the english language, William Shakespeare. The tragic deaths of the main characters Juliet and her Romeo were heavily influenced by the adult characters in the play, however, they themselves were at fault for their woeful deaths. Juliet parents in particular, whom in the presence of Juliet were rather uptight, unsupportive and overall uncaring. Friar Lawrence and the Nurse, who’s guardian type position in Romeo and Juliet lives could have prevent the sorrow filled events of the play. “I could not send it- here it is again- nor could i get a messenger to bring it to thee.” The plan had many flaw and the Friar should have taken it in his stride to speak to Romeo face to face. Also, Friar Lawrence should have been at the Capulets monument when Juliet was under the potion in case Romeo arrived before Juliet awakened. After Juliet wakes up and find Romeo and dead, the Friar leaves Juliet alone in the monument, instead of talking her out of suicide. “Stay, not to question, the watch is coming. Come, go, good Juliet. From the beginning Romeo and Juliet should have realised that their love would be impossible. “My only love has sprung from my only hate.” Had they realised earlier, their deaths would have been preventable as no plan for them to escape would have needed to be made. They also both showed sign of immaturity through their sudden wishes to die, hasty decisions and blindness to the lives of other around them. “Here i drink- I drink to thee.” Had more time be taken to make decision and think things through, there death would have been preventable. Also suicide was a choice, Romeo and Juliet need not kill themselves in order to be happy. As with Rosaline, new love can alway be found, however, Romeo and Juliet felt that without other they had no will to live. “Tis torture, not mercy. Heaven is here where Juliet
