Friar Lawrence Responsible For The Deaths Of Romeo And Juliet

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare both had a tragic death caused by their love for one another but other than Romeo and Juliet who else is to blame for these tragic deaths? A lot of characters had such little play in their death but who´s the most and least responsible? One of the more responsible characters is Lord Capulet and another more responsible character is Frair Lawrence. And the nurse is the least responsible but why? Who had the most responsibility for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? One could argue that Lord Capulet has a strong play in their deaths for he tried to push Juliet into marrying Paris that Thursday even though she didn´t want to. Because of this Lord Capulet said to Juliet ¨I tell thee what-get thee to church a Thursday or never after look at me in the face.¨ (Shakespeare, 3.5. 161) Basically saying that if Juliet doesn´t agree to marry Paris that Thursday then he will kick her to the streets and he will never look at her in …show more content…

Even though he agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet, he also agreed to marry Paris and Juliet on such short notice. When Juliet came weeping to Frair Lawrence about the whole situation and even threatening to take her own life, He told her he had a plan. He explained that Juliet would take a sleeping potion that would make it look like she took her life. He had to let Romeo know but fast. Instead of telling him this the second Paris came to him he waited till Juliet came and wrote to Romeo last minute. ¨Frair John was stayed by accident and yesternight returned my letter back.¨ (Shakespeare, 4.3. 250-252) Meaning that the letter never got to Romeo knowing this he went as fast as he could and hopefully meet Romeo there but instead Romeo beat him and took his own life with poison. After that Frair arrived and tried to get Juliet to come with him as he heard a noise but he ran off letting Juliet take his own
