A man’s best friend is a term used for dogs, cats, and many other animals. John Steinbeck, the author of the novel Of Mice and Men, has two main characters. George and Lennie travel to a farm travel to a farm to work. There they meet people such as Slim, Candy, Carlson, and Curley. Candy owns a dog that has been with him his whole life. The dog was getting old now and can barely walk. Carlson decides to put the dog out of its misery, so he shoots it. It was wrong for Carlson to shoot candy’s dog. After all it was Candy’s dog that had been with him his whole life. Carlson also pushed candy into that decision rather than having him choose for himself.
