Frog Funeral Experience Essay

Attending a frog funeral was a unique experience during my first day of volunteering in a daycare. The small, green animal named Phil was treated with respect and dignity as he was delicately handled and placed into a beautifully, handmade casket. The children tried to evoke happiness through their eulogies in order for us all to look at the positive and not the negative. This experience taught me that I need to take whatever life has granted me, whether it be mournful or dull, and convert it to a new perspective filled with elation. The youth at the daycare never stopped smiling. They were always ecstatic in what they did no matter what problem they faced. Myself on the other hand took everything seriously and literal. When faced with a difficult situation, my mind would automatically go to the consequences and realities of the problem, not the benefits. Being at that funeral, I saw no matter how weird or difficult the problem, it is always malleable to be looked in a brighter way. I realized nothing is fun done alone, but with others. Being an only child, and moving to new locations multiple times, I always felt alone and thought friends were not essential in my life. A las being with others, brings upon a new world of possibilities. The kids taught me everything is more enjoyable when doing it with others. I could get new ideas, and start to enjoy tasks that would normally be dull when done in solitude. After volunteering at the daycare, I started to become more active in school and joined various clubs in order to meet new people that eventually would impact me to be the person I am today. I was no longer hiding in the back of the class, trying not to be noticed, but front and center with others supporting
