Are you a monster? Because in Fugitives, by Alexander Gordon Smith was an action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The very beginning of the book Starts up with Alex and Simon. Along with Zee running out of Furnace Penitentiary. Next, break into a department store with the help of Zee. This is where they get clothes and food. Next thing they know they are being shot at by Military personnel. They barely escape and witness the new terrors that Furnace has unleashed. These new monsters can just simply bite someone and they turn into the monster who bit them. Alex is trying to make his way out of the city when he is bitten. It still looked as if something was moving under my skin, black worms that appeared then vanished before I could make sense of them. It wasn't sore, though. In fact if anything I felt stronger than I ever had. I felt as though I could take on every single one of Furnace’s freaks with that single bulging limb. (Smith 112)
The theme of the novel is When things are with you, you might feel indestructible. This was demonstrated when the character experienced and/or the author wrote How Alex felt that he could destroy any one of Furnace’s monsters because she was becoming stronger.
The author showed the climax by Having an amazing fight with Warden Cross in the Furnace Tower. As for myself I truly loved the fight scene of Alex and the Warden. It was very action-packed and I liked how it started off with the Warden explaining to Alex how when the new nectar and the old nectar mixed you could become Unstoppable. “If you are human then the new nectar will change you.” The warden held up the knife, appeared to be studying his reflection in the polished steel. “You become feral, intent on nothing but destruction. But when you already got the old nectar inside you. That's when it gets really interesting.” (Smith 249) This is showing how the Warden is showing off. Right after this he gives himself a lot of the new nectar and turns into a crazy monster that laws of physics do not apply

Alex went through Mood swings through this book. Alex was very moody through this book at sometimes he would be very happy then others he would be very angry but the angry times were not always his fault. Many of his raging crazy moments were due to the “nectar” in his blood that would turn him into a crazy person. “I'd find Alfred Furnace, and I would kill him. And if the world got in my way then God help it, because I'd tear it apart. I’d watch it burn. No, it wasn't over. Not by a long shot. My reign of terror was only just beginning. (Smith 270) This is right after he kills Warden
