Ravi wants to win, but instead he faces different challenges and. In the short story “Games at Twilight” by Anita Desai, one theme that could be used is that things do not always work out as planned, and you sometimes have to face your fears to get what you want. Ravi is the youngest boy in his family and he wants to win the game, hide-and-seek, and beat his brother, Raghu, but he does not succeed and is forgotten. His motivation is to be the winner of hide-and-seek, have the others jealous, and be taken seriously. It had a muffled smell as of graves...Ravi stood frozen in the shed.”(5) The shed scares Ravi, he does not like the dark and he is frozen. He stays there alone for hours thinking something might happen to him, Ravi relates it to death. Furthermore, Ravi is in the shed for hours and when he comes out he is forgotten.
