Gang Violence in Prison
Gang violence, is an action that can take place pretty much anywhere, but in prison especially, is a different kind of dangerous violence. Fights and assaults are categorized as prison violence. Researchers also found that these three crimes didn’t result in injurious force. Violence happens a lot throughout all prisons.
Prison is an extremely petrifying, violent and vicious place according to other prisoners. Prison is the type of place that criminals should be sent to because it's a harsh environment. Prison is a place where serious criminals are sent when proven guilty. Prison is so violent because that's the way that most of the prisoners think is the only way to survive in jail. Gang violence begins when a new inmate is brought into a prison. Prisoners are people that were caught maybe selling drugs, murder, stealing, grand theft auto. Before people were brought to prison they were already violent people. Research from www.ojp.gov says prisons' social structure and prison regimes generate competition for scarce resources, require inmates to interact with unpredictable people, and deprives prisoners of privacy. Prison isn’t a peaceful place where prisoners are brought to relax and think about what they have done, it’s a place where they are brought to be controlled and suffer to punish them for what they have done. Not being able to do anything for many years or a year can make people angry and that's why violence can start from one person to another.
