Gang violence refers to mostly the illegal and non-political acts of violence perpetrated by gangs against civilians, other gangs, law enforcement officers, firefighters, or military personnel. Street gangs are corrupting streets and neighborhoods all over America and even around the world. Many communities in the united states are facing escalating violence by gang members, which is affecting the communities in many ways. The problem arises when gang violence begin to affect our youth and their physically and mentally. Gangs are mostly tempted by teens because of numerous circumstances; poverty and child neglect. If there is a missing parent, or uninvolved supervision the odds of the child joining a gang are high. More so, if parents are not able to offer structure, support, and an encouraging environment children are more likely to turn to gangs for fulfillment of their needs of having a family. In some cases, parents may encourage gang involvement because of their own history of criminal activity. Sometimes youth want gang membership, they it’s a way of protecting their neighborhood, which is their home. There could be other problems going on in the household for instance, child abuse, domestic violence, or an adult with physical and/or mental health concerns that are stressful. There are various reasons for a parent or parents not to be at home with their children, for example, they may need to work to support the family, take care of elders of their family, working two jobs without having child care, or have passed away. There are so many reasons that could cause them not to be there for their children. These are likely reasons for youngsters to join gang to get the things that they need.
Gang violence have a negative effect on education even teachers are reluctant to teach in high crime neighborhoods, or they are afraid of the students that they are trying to teach. When children are involved
