The problem, however, is the effect the revitalization has on the homeless community. The project is already underway; new “trendy” stores have been built alongside the luxury high rises located near the waterfront. While this improvement should be happily received by residents, one must question what will happen to the current residents and, more importantly, the homeless population that rely on establishments that have been around for decades. This change
In “Homeless on Campus” author, Kingsborough Community College English Department Instructor, Eleanor Bader explains the increasing amount of homeless students and ways the public can help get them into various necessary living situations. Bader has two main audiences whom she is addressing. The first audience is homeless students. This report helps homeless students feel as if their voice is being heard and that they are not the only ones going through this. The second audience is teachers and college faculty members.
While circumstances can vary, an individual’s first choice is rarely to choose homelessness due to the inability to afford housing or other unforeseen circumstances. The support of friends, family, and community programs/shelters are first suggestions when a person becomes displaced. When these suggestions become inadequate, living on the streets is the next favorable/affordable option. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, on a night in January of 2015, there were 564,708 people homeless in the United States (para 3).
Homelessness, while widely acknowledged, continues to be an ever-prevalent issue within society. This urged me to take action. In order to compromise an accurate, precise claim, I needed to heavily research and analyze the various aspects of this issue -- specifically regarding the causes of homelessness, addressing the stereotypes and stigmas surrounding it, and by finding solutions at a personal, local, and national level. Initially, I intended to include pathos as a primary theme throughout my sources, but I eventually found logos as a more prevalent, more central theme that appeared throughout each source. Presented primarily through statistics, logos stands as the central theme.
It is hard to imagine life as a homeless family. I hope that I’ll never have to move my family from shelter to shelter as some families must do every day. According to the essay “Homeless” by Anna Quindlen, we should take more time in our lives to see the pain that homelessness creates. I agree with Anna Quindlen’s assertion that a home is everything. A home can provide certainty.
The homeless in Toronto is a difficult sight to see; John Tory, the city mayor has noted his embarrassment to seeing this growing issue on the streets of Toronto. There are various ways that this issue effects the city, through the economy, the environment, jobs, stores along with having a social impact on the city. One would assume that all the money raised by various charities would lead to a decrease in the amount of homeless individuals, but there has been no notably large difference. The homeless in Toronto affecting the
As time goes on, the rate of homelessness rises as the population rises. Homelessness then was mostly caused by a family’s history of being homeless, drug abuse, mental disorders, and tyrannical leaders forcing his people into poverty. In modern times, several organizations are now trying to end homelessness by building cheaper housing projects more affordable to the poor and homeless shelters; these projects usually cost a fair amount of money.
I feel that it is a matter of great importance that we address the current issue of homelessness. How do we deal with the nearly 600,000 people who experience homelessness each night in the United States, crowding streets, sidewalks, and doorsteps with their hands grasping for our money? These people go cold and hungry every night with little hope of having a better life. I propose this not for personal gain, but for the good of our nation. I seek no payment or reward, I just want to make our nation better.

They both are very common problems in America that should come to an end. There is no doubt that they can be stopped with the help of the government and other everyday people.
