1. Identification and evaluation of sources This investigation, examining certain events of the Cold War, will answer the question: To what extent did President Ronald Reagan’s actions aid in the end of the Cold War? The Cold War was a war between the United States and the Soviet Union that took place from 1947 to 1991. During that time several United States presidents took office, one of the last being Ronald Reagan whose actions have been argued to have been more influential than the rest and impactful toward the downfall of the ongoing war with the Soviet Union.

The Soviet Union has been an enigma, but still, a very significant contributor to the history of the world. There have been many rulers in Soviet Union history. The Soviet Union has been through economic successes and downfalls, ages of terror, a world war, was once an ally of the United States, today is an enemy of the US. If we were to add the history from the Soviet Union to our textbooks , what information should be emphasized? There are many important areas about the Soviet Union, three of them are: cultural achievements, military strength and political repression.
The region known as one of the world’s superpowers lost dominance after seventy years of corruption and destruction. The Soviet Union was the largest Communist bloc, which were countries under Soviet influence. It ended in 1991 because the economy that was government run could no longer sustain. What important things about the Soviet Union should be placed in textbooks? Textbooks should emphasize the USSR’s size, The Great Terror, and their military strength, because they have shaped who this region is today.

The nature of Russian society is characterized by a sense of idealism. Russia’s beliefs of the potential for an ideal future have been pervasive throughout history. In 1920, Yevgeny Zamyatin wrote the short story “The Cave” during the midst of the Russian Civil War, a time when nationalism was at an all time low and people were hoping for a brighter future. In contrast to the goals that sparked the revolution, Zamyatin argues that the Russian Civil War will result in a primitive and decimated society that is ultimately worse off than the society that existed prior to the rebellion.
The talk of good for Soviet’s during the Cold war did not always had to do with the people who spied for Russia and got information for the greater good of Russia, it also had to do with ex-Soviets who wanted to bring Russia down. Mikkonen’s article focused on the people who were formerly part of the Soviet Union but were displaced during the Russia Civil war and the Cold war. The Soviet émigré was formed to go against the Soviet Union and was made up of all walks of life who had fled from, or in some other way left the Soviet Union (Mikkonen 2012). Miserably, in 1917 Russia became part of the Soviet Union, and was no different than it was before. It all began only a few years before when a ruler named Tsar, who was filthy rich, cared for no one but himself. Tsar hated the pheasants, he treated them with such poor respect no clothes, no food, and hardly any shelter. One day as the pheasants were working, one of the pheasants who was heavily inspired by the beliefs of Marx decided he was going to do something about the union. One day Lenin went and murdered tsar and his family so he could rule.
Berlin was known as the centerpiece of the Cold War. Being the capital city of Germany, the desire to have power over it was extremely high. Germany was split into two, the East, taken over by the Soviet Union, and the West, taken over by the United States, Britain, and France. Tensions rose between each country on who would be able to have power over Berlin. Since the city was on the east side and up to 100 miles inside Soviet-controlled East Germany, the Soviets had power; However, the West would not allow them to take over the capital city so easily.
Validity: This source is relevant to my research question because it shows that Stalin’s rule in agriculture did not benefit the Soviet Union socially which forms part of my argument. People were “left to die” in order to allow the Five-Year Plan to continue and become successful economically. Usefulness: The source is useful because it provides a view of someone who is not from the Soviet Union and has not been raised based on values and principles of the country. It shows that not all people working in government were in favour of Stalin’s agricultural rule.
Introduction: Back in 1972 a case was brought up on behalf of 7 students between the ages of 8 and 16, who lived in Washington D.C. These students were students with disabilities. They were excluded from their public schools, and educational services were denied to them. I covered how Putin’s visionary leadership traits ignored key aspects of diversimilarity and show how he was methodical in planning and executing is objectives. I also demonstrated how his drive for success and a lack of open-mindedness made him an unethical leader. Finally, I reflected on my own leadership as it pertains to these lesson principles, and my pursuit to continue growing as a self-aware leader.
