It is indisputable that there is still a sizable gender wage disparity in professional sports, despite the great progress made in recent years. The truth is that professional athletes' pay rates are actually determined by a variety of factors, contrary to popular belief, which holds that only talent level matters. The disparity in skill levels, entertainment value, organizational structures, sponsorship agreements, and marketing opportunities between men's and women's sports can be heavily blamed for the gender pay gap. Sports organizations, such as leagues, federations, and governing bodies, play a crucial role in the allocation of financial resources and opportunities for athletes. Women's sports often receive less financial support, sponsorship deals, and infrastructure investment compared to their male counterparts. This difference in financial aid is due to the fact that men's sports are more popular due to the skill difference present. As the study by Adelphi University states “NBA players receive about 50% of the league’s revenues. Up until 2020, the WNBA received 20% of their league’s revenues. That changed with a new community bargaining agreement, reached in January of 2020, which agreed to a 50-50 split and brought WNBA players in line with their male counterparts.” This shows that now they are being paid the same percentage of what the organization makes. For a while, the argument was that men got a higher percentage of league earnings compared to women's sports. But this change eliminated that argument, but the pay gap persists. This is due to the fact that men's sports make more due to the skill and entertainment gaps present. This discrepancy in funding affects various aspects, including training facilities, coaching staff, travel accommodations, and promotional activities. The earlier establishment of men's leagues has caused men's sports to be more established. An example of this would be from the quote by Charlie Moody-Stuart “The much thinner alumni funding available for DULBC [Dublin University Ladies Boat Club] is largely due to them being a younger club less steeped in tradition. Founded in 1976, DULBC is on unequal footing next to DUBC [Dublin University Boat Club], whose 1836 inception has facilitated a far greater breadth and depth of alumni.”The skill gap causes an investment gap which causes fewer fans to watch and less money
