Should Female Athletes Be Paid the Same As Male Athletes in Sport

One of the main reasons why women shouldn’t be paid the same in sports is the amount of money that the leagues actually bring in compared to their male counterparts.
The amount of money that the leagues bring in is such a big difference because of the amount of memberships that the women's teams have, the amount of people who actually go to the games and the amount the sponsor ships bring in for the leagues. This is a very important thing that contributes to the fact that women don't get paid the same amount of money as the men.
In the WNBA specifically the league loses an average of 10 million dollars a year, because not enough people attend the games, not enough companies/corporations are willing to sponsor the WNBA as they don't believe it is a good investment and would rather invest it in the NBA. In the AFLW there was an average attendance of 1,924 people at the games compared to the AFL’s 30,519. One thing that doesn’t help is that during the regular season the AFLW have tickets free for people under 18. Similarly to the NBA and WNBA the ticket prices for NBA games is an average of $589 compared to $17.42. When comparing athletic races for each gender, the pay is the same because the difference in skill is so small compared to other sports in which the men are a lot better at, because of this women draw the same amount of fans at the events and the amount of money generated is the same for each gender.
