Genesis 22 Sacrifice In Israel

140 Words1 Pages
In Genesis 22 an angel intervenes and stops Abraham from sacrificing Isaac in the mountains of Moriah, but Jephthah kills his daughter without any type of divine intervention (Tullock & McEntire, 2012, p. 110). Therefore, as I analyze why God would allow Jephthah to fulfill the sacrifice of his only daughter, I remember the state of the Israelite people and the neglect for to the covenant. Furthermore, during this time in Israel human sacrifice is forbidden, but God still allows the sacrifice to occur (Tullock & McEntire, 2012, p. 110). Additionally, I believe God allows this event to proceed to reaffirm to the Israelites that vows between the Lord and them are sacred and meant to be fulfilled regardless of the consequences.
