In the novel Of Mice and Men both Curley 's Wife and Lennie die tragic deaths. Curley’s wife was strangled while her husband was off playing games. Lennie the man who accidentally killed Curley’s wife knew Curley would be made and come after him, so he ran. When George sees what Lennie has done he is distraught. He knows what the other men are going to do to him. He finds Lennie, puts him in his happy place and kill him before anyone else could. Since George cared so much about Lennie 's death was less tragic than it would have been if the other men found Lennie. Curley 's abandoned his wife showed her little love and compassion. In the novel, Curley is described to be cruel. He is a stout man but since he is the bosses son he thinks he can pick on anybody “ Never did seem right to me. S 'pose Curley jumps a big guy an ' licks him. Ever 'body says what a game guy Curley is. And s 'pose he does the same thing and gets licked. Then ever 'body says that the big guy ought to pick somebody his own size, and maybe they gang up on the big guy. Never did seem right to me. Seems like Curley ain 't givin ' nobody a chance" (pg. 26-27). : Curley is always coming into the bunk hous3 to look for his wife. When Slim is not n there he presumes he is with his wife. Slim gets annoyed with Curley’s lack of trust in his wife. Curley is always asking Slim where his wife is. Curley thinks Slim is involved with his wife. Slim says, 'Well, you been askin ' me too often. I 'm gettin ' sick of it. If you can 't look after your own wife, what you expect me to do about it? '" (pg.62).
