A Life full of Failures and very little victories By: Kandace Wilkins Period 6th (Hamilton) 1826, the Elizabeth McClellan gave birth to a child, a child to soon bring the saddest battle fought, the saddest lost and downfall to a side only wanting freedom and full of dreams. But, this is getting far ahead of ourselves, in 1826 Elizabeth McClellan gave birth to a child named George B McClellan. This Passage will discuss the life of George B McClellan and the outcome of his childhood, being tested when he is faced with the separation of a great nation, (one side wanting the equal and the other ownership of someone's life), and soon a great war of the two sides. Now It may seem that George B McClellan’s life was full of failure, but he had major accomplishments in his early life before the civil war and even some afterwards. In 1858 Mcclellan became the vice president of the railroads being built across all of Illinois. Afterwards was his biggest accomplishment, in 1860 Mclellan Married Ellen Mary after seven long years of trying to win over her heart. Four years later in 1864, McClellan ran for president thanks to the nomination by the democratic party, but he had soon lost to Ab Lincoln. One year later however, Ellen Mary McClellan gave birth to a healthy baby boy, George McClellan Jr. who also was a strong minded politician like his father. Unfortunately, McClellan wasn’t there for his son's birth but instead was in Europe studying the profession of army tactics from the years 1865-1868. Once he returned home though in 1870 he worked as chief engineer for new york city department of docks, completing many projects. Then soon he was right back with the things of Politicians when he served as the Governor of New Jersey in 1878-1881. After his term was up he gave back to his community by being on the board of directors for the national home of disabled
