George Sanders's Exhortation

Exhortation, by George Sanders, is a short story that sends a message about being positive. Sanders writes about a character named Todd who emails the staff telling telling them how they should be more positive while working on jobs that aren’t necessarily joyful. In the story, Sanders illustrates, “I am saying (and saying it fervently, because it is important): Let’s try, if we can, to minimize the grumbling and self-doubt regarding the tasks we must sometimes do around here that maybe aren’t on the surface all that pleasant.” This, to me, showed that he is trying to promote positivity among his staff members. The way the tone of that line sounds is suggestive, not exactly enforcing to be positive. The purpose of this story is to spread positivity.
