One of the responses to Buddhism in China was that it was thought that Buddhism was a threat to Confucian family values.
“My family is my strength and weakness. ”- Aishwaraya Rai Bachchan. This quote is signifying how your family affects your life. Such as in the book Night, by Elie Wesile, shows Elies experience during the Holocaust in the concentration camp.
Family is one of the biggest impact on people's lives in numerous ways. They help to teach each other perseverance even in the toughest times. In the novel Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie was able to survive the countless nights in the concentration camps because he knew he had his father right by his side throughout it all. In the novel Sold by Patricia McCormick, young Lakshmi did not have her family in person with her at the Happiness House, but she had them in her thoughts constantly. It was these thoughts that allowed her to keep going even when nothing was what she thought it would be.
Family affects how people see what kind of person you are from the outside view. Family is not always a positive situation; everyone has their own down faults. This point is shown in the story “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan. The situation in this story was all about family and the processes that make your culture better from the lessons that have happened or you have learned. In Two Kinds, there was this little girl named Ni Kan and her mother wanted her to be just like her.
Death is a recurring scene in this novel. The first death we see is the death of the mouse that Lennie finds and pets, but ends up killing. Second, is the death of the swamper’s, Candy, old, smelly dog. The next important death is the death of the young puppy that Lennie kills by petting. With much of the world becoming focused on individual goals and ideas, it is necessary to remember the importance of family relationships. Through family bonds, people may find support that they would not find anywhere else, giving them the strength to push through difficult situations. The support that family relationships provide may be seen with an example from my own life as well as from Elie Wiesel’s novel Night. Family can be very crucial when it comes to dealing with tough situations in life.
Their characteristics of their actions and words show the relationship that these people have within their families. And it was not a caring-and-love one family relationship. They let their tradition tear family apart, which they can stop if they are willing to do it. Throughout reading this short story, it informs the audiences that each individual character in this story have similar characteristics--loneliness-- except children, who does not fully understand family bonds. This story also shows their appearance of selfishness.
The Ones We Love? Family; a blessing, or a curse? In the book Night, Elie Wiesel offers many significant themes, but the question, “is family a blessing or a curse,” is one of the most prevalent and begging themes in the novel. During the novel, Wiesel often questions if he should try and keep his father around, or if life would just be better without him in the picture. “‘Don’t let me find him!
Chinese Immigrants: The Gold Rush Like the other nations in the world, the Chinese Empire was represented in the California Gold Rush. At the beginning of 1849 only about fifty Chinese men participated in the Gold Rush. By the year 1876 a steady flow of Chinese immigrants entered California, an amazing amount of 116,000 Chinese were engaged in the great search for gold. The cause of the mass immigration of the Chinese was the war, famine, and poor economy in China.
Family, for most people, is defined as a sort of safe haven for people to go to. For others, families may be fragmented, split, or may have wrong ideals as a whole. Broken families, while they may have a long lasting effect on the spouses, can also have a detrimental, long-lasting effect on the children of these marriages which can lead to certain mental illnesses. For example, in the story of the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Deborah faces the emotional effects of her mother’s death. Other stories such as “A Rose for Emily”, show how Emily 's fathers parenting techniques and a lack of a mother figure burdened her future.
As a whole, while the story was very depressing at times, it still has an underlying tone of family ideals, as the relationship between the mother and daughter still remained despite the arguments they had. In my opinion, I think the author’s message that she wished to convey was that despite any event that may occur, family members will always be there support you. This is shown in how, despite Jing Mei’s failures at becoming a prodigy, her mother still supported her and did not give up hope on helping her daughter becoming a successful person. As such, it strengthens the idea that “family will always be there for you”, no matter what hardships come their way. In addition, it helped to add a sense of togetherness in the short story, as it inadvertently revealed how much Jing’s mother actually loved her, despite her tough exterior.
Child abuse was, unfortunately, very common in China during the mid-1900s. Adeline, a young Chinese girl whom this book is about, was often abused during her childhood. Chinese Cinderella, a novel by Adeline Yen Mah, is about young Adeline’s life, which seems to be extremely depressing. Throughout the story, Adeline is constantly abused, ignored, and treated cruelly. Throughout Chinese Cinderella, Adeline is abused by her parents and siblings.
Cinderella would continue to live in a home with people who have no heart and do not care for her if it weren’t for what God and nature had done for her. I believe the purpose of the story was to show that once you are at the bottom, you can only go up. Though, Cinderella did have nature and God by her side, she progressed so much throughout the story, I could sense her confidence rising just from reading the story and picturing her character in my head and seeing her develop as the story goes on and as she sees how desperate and manipulative her sisters really are and how she truly is better than them. I believe the theme is good comes to those who are good because no matter how much Cinderella is put down she still does what she is told, she never acts up, says anything rude or maybe even to generalize it a bit more she does not stoop to their level of pettiness and desperateness. Once she does all of these good things, she gets good things granted back to her, good karma.
The traditional Chinese cultures have a development process for thousand years, now we are creating another kind of traditional culture especially under the wave of globalization. Although the form of expressing or performing the culture experienced some changes but the basic idea and belief behind rarely changed. To promote Chinese culture we would refer to the essence of Chinese wisdom so the following is actual practicing of different dimensions of Chinese traditions which show the beauty of China. The family concept is the essence of Chinese culture.
