Commonly known as the first president of the United States of America and as the father of his country, George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia(Grimm). He came from a wealthy family, his father Augustine Washington owned land and slaves and was a rich farmer (Grimm). George Washington is one of the most crucial figures in American history. Washington is known for his great humility as a man in a position of great power.
The fact the founding fathers of the United States, risked their lives traveling on a dangerous journey in a hope of finding a place where they can express themselves freely without any punishment indicates how valuable this Amendment is and it is sad that it is not

Founding father Benjamin Franklin became a mason in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
George Washington was America’s most essential man. He experienced the loss of his father at a young age, yet he became a successful plantation owner, a major in the Virginia militia, a politician, a general and the first president of the United States of America. Though he experienced many adversities in life he was able to take these experiences and use them to better a country. George Washington created a new government for the United Sates of America in his own image which was moral, fair and responsible because of his own life experiences as a general, politician and entrepreneur. George Washington was born on February 22nd, 1732.
Being a great leader is definitely an accomplishment that most people would like to obtain, but very few people reach that goal. Of the most well-known people in history, the most noted is that of our First President, George Washington. Washington’s leadership is best described as being composed of integrity, determination, resourcefulness, flexibility and creativity . His performance in three significant roles during the foundation of the United States that forms the basis of Washington’s greatness to this nation. First his position as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army, second as President of the Continental Convention and lastly as President of the United States.
The Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791, consists of the first ten amendments made to the United States Constitution. Its purpose was to list and guarantee the rights of American citizens, and to limit the power of the general, or federal government. The first amendment, among other things, enforces the idea of freedom of speech and press. “The free press is necessary in order to preserve the republican aspect of the government from abuse of power on the part of the monarchy.” There have been many intervals in history when the details of freedom of the press and freedom of speech have been questioned.
As the first president of the United States, George Washington’s effect on the United States is undeniable, but that does not mean Washington’s presidency was left without controversy and unsolved issues. After the American Revolution, the primary focus of the government was to lay a foundation for the foreseeable future. Because the Articles of Confederation was too simple and made it nearly impossible for the government to tax the people and generate revenue, Washington was left with an intimidating task. The American revolution is one of the most important events in American history. It had taken millions to make this happen, including General Washington. Washington was an outstanding general to had brought hope into the minds of his people in a time of despair. Inexperienced in running such a huge army he made the impossible, possible. He had led his army through the crucial weather, disease and several hardships.
The name of our hero is George Washington. He is our hero because he was the first to become president of the U.S.A, he was also a chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. On October 31, 1788, James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, wrote the first amendment and said,” a good ground for an appeal to the sense of community.” The First Amendment was added to the Constitution with the rest of the Bill of Rights on December 15, 1791. The first bill was added because citizens demanded a guarantee of their basic freedoms. E interpretation or application of the freedom of speech has changed. It has changed because when the Bill was first made, it was meant that people could say and print whatever they want.
In the late 1700’s, James Madison wrote the first Ten Amendments that are listed in the United States Constitution. The Bill of Rights were written to ensure American citizens that they have freedoms and rights that the government can 't infringe. Out of the Ten Amendments, I believe that the First and Eighth Amendment are the most significant. The First Amendment grants us freedom of speech, religion, press, petition, and for people to assemble peaceably.
The Importance of the 1st Amendment In 1787 our founding fathers assembled the constitution of the United States of America. Of this which contains the most important document to the American citizen, the Bill of rights. The first Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances” These freedoms granted by the Bill of Rights are often known as freedom of expression.
