What would you do if you were the leader of an army? Most people would be stressed out, but George Washington remained calm. George Washington should be inducted into the History Hall of Fame because he has overcome many different obstacles and has done many excellent things in his career, which has impacted the world today. George Washington was a great leader who made various contributions. Washington was born on February 22, 1732 in Virginia where he served as a general and Commander in Chief (“George Washington”). Washington was the first American President and was the Commander of the Continental Army, President of the Constitutional Convention, and a gentleman planter (“Biography of George Washington”). Washington was taught at home by many different private tutors or in other private schools (“Biography of George Washington”). Washington had always wanted to join the British Navy when he was younger but, his mother refused to let him (“Biography of George Washington”). Washington has helped shape the beginning of the U.S in three different ways (“Biography of George Washington”). First, he commanded the Continental Army that won American Independence from Britain in the Revolutionary War (“Biography of George Washington”). Next, he served as President of the Convention that wrote the U.S Constitution. Third, he was elected the first President of the U.S (“Biography of George Washington”). Washington has led the Continental Army to victory on June 14, 1775 and he was then nominated to serve as the army’s Commander in Chief (“Biography of George Washington”). Washington sometimes didn’t know how to handle things and was embarrassed or awkward about some situations (“Biography of George Washington”). He struggled with knowing how to act like a president because there was no precedent for his office in a world of full kings which left Washington to figure out how to act like a president (“Biography of George Washington”). Washington also faced a challenge on how to manage a quarrelsome cabinet, he had to solicit each person's opinion and consider his options in order to make a decision (“Biography of George Washington”). He also faced the challenge of how to develop a presidential style, people thought that if the president would make something bad happen, the government would be swallowed up, which meant he has to make sure he was going to do things right (“Biography of George Washington”). Washington was always aware that religious beliefs were a fundamental part of the lives of his peers and his soldiers (“George Washington and Religion”). Washington was a man who focused throughout his whole life on gaining honor and respect (“George Washington and Religion”). Washington supported troops that has selected their own chaplains (“George Washington and Religion”). Washington was not anti religion or uninterested in religion, he was a military commander who struggled to motivate his troops in the wars
