There was seven days of Creation, and with each day God created Earth. On the first day, God created heaven and earth. God then speaks light into existence and goes on to separate light from darkness. "And God divided the light from the darkness." On this day he named light "day" and dark "night." On the second day, God creates the sky. God spoke, "let it divide water from water." This creates an atmosphere and a barrier between water on the surface and moisture in the air. Then the third day, God says, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered in one place so that the dry land will appear." When this was said he created dry land "Earth" and water "Sea." There was one specific honorable man chosen to build an ark that would save each pair of animals and only a select few of people. However, Noah received his calling from God. Utnapishtim received it in a dream. Next, I found was that birds were released in both texts to find land. In the Epic of Gilgamesh they released a dove, a swallow, and a raven. In the Book of Genesis they released a raven and three doves. Then there sacrifices came with blessings. Noah's blessing was to multiply and populate the earth and have power over all animals. They were so unified that they were working against God and his intent. They wanted to "build us a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, that we may make us a name". It was an assault to heaven and they wanted to make themselves superior, almost as an equal to God. When God "baffle their language" and "scattered them from there over all earth" it kept them from uniting and trying to raise up to God. It also aided in tending and caring for earth like intended, by scattering them. If God had not done this I think they would have continued with the evil doings and expanded the population rooted in evil. Then they wouldn't have leaned on God anymore. Also from today's point of view them trying to build a tower to heaven would have most likely resulted in the building falling and killing everyone. With that being said, everyone would have died and there would be no more people because they were all gathered in that one
