In The Epic of Gilgamesh, and Genesis are two extremely important texts, and some of the things in both of these texts are still infused into are modern society today. They both consist of adventures, and dangerous quests that the characters within the text undertake. The two main characters in each text are GOD (Jesus), and Gilgamesh. Explained in both texts, the both seem to deal with the supernatural. Where GOD was a healer, Gilgamesh experienced and dealt with supernatural things. Even know they both deal with the supernatural they are both still seen as a human character. It is said to be one of the first of many cities in the world. It is where writing began, it was also one of the first cities to come up with a form of labeling. This city empowered futuring cities with their ideas such as cuneiform. In this city there was a region known as Babylonia and that is why the Epic of Gilgamesh is expressed Babylonian. The city was mostly popular because of their king Gilgamesh, and his supernatural quest for eternal life. The city was most popular during 4100-c.3000 BCE. The reason why is because Uruk was the most urbanized cities at the time, there was also big on trade. Uruk was split into two segments. One of them we’re known as the Eanna District, and the other one was known as the Anu District. These two were walled off. Even after the Uruk ruling period the laws and teachings still played a major role in future periods to come. The decline of this major city was because of the invasion of the Elamites, and the fall of the city Ur due to the Sumerian Renaissance. Gilgamesh was a king in Uruk around the 26th century BCE. His position and his time ruling was so great tales were made about him which ultimately were put into The Epic of Gilgamesh. The initial author of the writing was Enheduanna. Gilgamesh’s plant which would give him immortality was stolen by a serpent. In Genesis Eve and Adam were convinced to eat the forbidden fruit by a serpent. In both stories a woman was the reason for something bad to happen. There is quite of a few similarities such as the flood. There is also many differences. The Epic of Gilgamesh was about one person. Genesis is about various accounts of different individuals lives. The Epic of Gilgamesh correlates to humanities because it teaches us even now to stop being so self-considerate, and conceited and be more passionate about the beautiful world around your, that you have been granted a chance to live and dwell in. This poem or text explains the bad and good throughout the world, and explaining that the good path is always the one to choose. It teaches use from right and wrong. It teaches friendship, and how there may be differences between the two the still get along. This text teaches us about life and death. At first, Gilgamesh did not care to die, and he made fun of his companion Enkidu because of his fear of death. However, when Enkidu died he couldn’t stop thinking about how scary death actually is, and he finally understands that life is short and he should live it to the fullest. It shows you how much love a person can have so much and how the death of his companion forever changed him. You can put all of these lessons
