In the story “So I ain’t no Good Girl “written by Sharon Flakes. I felt like the scene was very realistic, the characters made the scene very realistic by the way they were acting. The author described the scene pretty good when she said: “if I scream at him the whole street could hear me”. I can also relate to the scene in my everyday life. A boy and his girlfriend where at a bus stop with some other girls, And Raheem starts to act a little flirter with the good girls who made his girlfriend kind of upset about the situation, so she tries to talk about it, but he got mad at her and ended up making out with the good girl.
In The Dancer by Vickie Sears a young girl, Clarissa, finds herself and her confidence through dance. This took time, devotion and passion. Character Profile: Dancer The Dancer by Vickie Sears is a short story about a five-year-old aboriginal girl named Clarissa who was lost in the world like many others. In the beginning of the story, Clarissa has just been put into a foster home where she is described to be scared and filled with anger. When walking into this foster home, Clarissa had only brought enough stuff that could fit into a paper bag.
The short story, “Good enough” by Rachel Vail, speaks about the main character Dori and how she starts as what the poem, “Identity” by Julio Noboa Polanco would say as a flower but transform into a weed at the end. Dori tries to impress or fit in with the popular girls by getting an Orion shirt they all wear for Dori’s birthday. However, Dori’s family is not in the best financial situation, so this makes it really hard on the parents to get this. On Dori’s birthday she opens a present to find that her mom has given her a fake, which hurts her, but she does not tell her parents, so they do not feel bad. When Dori wears it to school the next day one of the popular girls goes up to her and taunts her about it, Dori ends up crying but catches herself and remembers that even though its fake her mom had so much love behind it and did her best which makes Dori get over it and know that it's okay to not be in the popular group or be different.

Audre Lorde’s “Sister Outsider” is a powerful reflection of her life as a Black lesbian feminist writer, and activist. Her groundbreaking work of literature reflects a feminist approach which emphasizes the importance of eliminating gender discrimination, as well as any other forms of oppression. Through her writing, Lorde challenges societal norms and stands up to the patriarchy, establishing herself as a strong and courageous feminist voice. Lorde’s writing exemplifies the notion of intersectionality, the idea that all forms of oppression are interconnected, and that we must fight against multiple forms of oppression simultaneously.

Memory can also affect the way people look at things and the decisions they make. In the memoir, Brown Girl Dreaming, Jacqueline Woodson draws close attention to the way in which memories impact her life and the lives of others in good and bad ways. Woodson brings to life a couple of bad memories that largely affected her life.

Jamaica Kincaid’s “Girl” is a very interesting story. In short it is about an unspecified guardian giving life advice to a young girl; the range of this advice varies from dress and grooming to medicinal recipes. The older woman, also referred to as the “guardian”, is not censored about this advice either. While people may think that “Girl” is a minor tale of verbal abuse, I prefer to think of it as story of tough love as well as hope that the girl will do better in life then the adult.

I recently reread one of my all time favorite novels, Someone Like You, written by Sarah Dessen which includes characters, a brilliant plot, unpredictable conflicts, and the readers reactions that make this novel a must read.
