I recently reread one of my all time favorite novels, Someone Like You, written by Sarah Dessen which includes characters, a brilliant plot, unpredictable conflicts, and the readers reactions that make this novel a must read. Sarah has a perfect sense for the key details to capture readers attention. She has written many other astounding books, Someone Like You is just one of my many favorites. Sara is not only an exceptional writer, but an exceptional person as well. She is selfless, never takes full credit for any of books; in fact, she once stated at a book signing, “I am incredibly blessed with the amazing and very patient editors. I could not achieve this amount of success without them.” This book has the best style of writing the …show more content…

Scarlett's boyfriend Michael dies in a motorcycle crash and a few weeks later she finds out she is pregnant with his baby. Throughout the book Halley meets a boy named Macon. Halley's mother tries to control every aspect of Halley's life and doesn't approve of Macon. Halley starts to rebel by sneaking out lying about where she is going and doing, smoking pot, and fighting with Scarlett. Halley and Macon get in a fight on New Years Eve and end up in a pretty bad car accident. Proving her parents correct that Macon was indeed reckless and dangerous, Macon does not put in much of an effort to go see Halley in the hospital or at her house when she goes home. After telling her he supposedly cared for her. Finally, she gets so frustrated with him and they break up. No one expected Michael to die, or Scarlet to begin pregnant, or Halley to act out, but that is just it, that is why everything happened. To beat all Scarlett goes into labor at prom, in this story she proves to us over and over we never know what is around the corner. This theme is the most important to me, to always expect the unexpected. There is a saying that goes hand in hand with this it goes “hope for the best and prepare
