In the story “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, the author creates a complex relationship between our two main characters. Through reading the story you'll see a more in depth look at their relationship. Their past and how that relates to them staying together. The difficulties each one of them have and how they're different from those who live on the farm. He has created a story with characters and interesting relationships between them, like George and Lennie's. To begin with, starting off the story you notice the bound these two characters share for one another. “George said, I want you to stay with me, Lennie”. We got each other”. This quote describes more of their relationship of sticking with each other, it's repeated between them multiple times showing emphases on it. Them two have this bond which none of the other characters have which really makes this story excel. Of course, even though they have each other to look out for one another they still struggle with problems of their own. “He got kicked in the head by a horse when he was a kid. He's awright. Just ain't bright”. All though he didn't actually get kicked in head the quote is right about Lennie not being bright which is a constant struggle for the character. Lennie really has a tough time dealing with that he isn't the smartest compared to George. "An' you ain't gonna do no bad things like you done in Weed, neither”. For George however the quote shows that George's real struggle is havingLennie to accompany him. These difficulties that they both have is holding them back at times, but is also the reason they are still together. No doubt, every character in the story has there own problems and characteristics, ones different from George and Lennie's. "If I say something, why it's just a nigger sayin'it."
