The book Of Mice And Men also known as OMAM starts off with 2 men George and Lennie being dropped off a Few miles South of Soledad California, Soledad actually translates to loneliness. George was a short fellow but also was a smart man. He took care of his cousin Lennie because Lennie had autism. Lennie was a tall,strong and really hard working fella but he could kill small animals with his bare hands. The two went to a ranch looking for work since Lennie had got in trouble in a town called Weed.
In John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men”, Lennie and George travel together to work. They discuss the trouble they experience with Lennie's touching things he shouldn't and how that forces them to run, hide, and constantly search for work. Throughout the book, Steinbeck gives just a small picture of all the trouble Lennie has caused and how George continues to guide him to get by. A problem with a girl leads us to chapter 1 and 6, and how they share in setting, but George and Lennie's interactions differ. The similarities and differences of chapter 1 and 6 show how Lennie and George's cohesive friendship with a bright future develops into a loving bond that had to end.
In the book ¨Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck¨,George and Lennie have a very strong and brotherly relationship. George and Lennie's friendship matter to the reader because it shows that you need companionship to give you hope. Their relationship affect both character because they depend on each other equally, for example Lennie is mentally challenged and George is like his leader and guide for Lennie in the right track. George also needs Lennie because in the novel Lennie is George's dream and if you don't have a dream you have nothing. The large meaning of George and Lennie’s friendship shows the reader that you need championship to help you achieve your dreams.

The story begins with two men, George, who is small and quick, with sharp strong features and Lennie, a huge man, with wide, sloping shoulders, on the way to work on a ranch. Once they reach the ranch they moved into their small bunkhouse and start working, they face many conflicts well working for their dream of owning their own ranch.
In the 1930’s Steinbeck had spent many nights at home researching all about the lives of a specific group of people. The important group of people were the migrant workers, especially those who were white. He learned all about them and the life of working on a farm in California. He also looked backed at his own experiences and his life when he was younger. Steinbeck used this knowledge of the life of bindlestiffs and others on the farm, the Spreckels Ranches, and his early life as his inspiration to write one of his best known novellas, Of Mice and Men.
Steinbeck states in the novel, “You seen what they done to my dog tonight?”(60). An example of Candy telling George and Lennie his problems. Candy still feels upset over his dog death by Carlson. But by using that excuse he got George to agree with him, to let him live in the ranch once they earn enough money. With Candy’s help with George and Lennie’s dream, it is easier and now faster for the three of them to get their ranch.

The initial paragraphs of John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men introduces Lennie and George, two men living on the road, in search of a job. Both men have dreams of their own and depend on each other in order to achieve them. George takes care of Lennie, who is mentally incapable, while Lennie provides company to George. These men wander around hoping to achieve the American Dream. They continue to go after it, without realizing that they will never be able to obtain it.
George and Lennie are the main characters in this story. They are two young friends who were left with nothing except some hopes and dreams. George and Lennie have dreamt of having and owning a small farm, but they were not able to fulfill their wishes because their lives were followed by heartbreaking failure. In the text, ‘Of Mice and Men’, friendship is portrayed in a very confusing way. It is dangerous so as to say.
The characters in Of Mice and Men all have original and unique characteristics inside of them, but no matter how different, they all have the same reactions of giving up when thinking about dreams. The main characters George and Lennie, recently unemployed migrant workers, move to a new ranch for work. Thrown into a cruel, misshapen life that doesn’t end well for the majority of characters, George and Lennie find themselves in a dilemma that seems all too familiar. John Steinbeck uses the characters in Of Mice and Men to show that dreams are fragile and they need friends to support them.
