When I think about what I be doing in ten years I hope that it is a career involving history and current issues. I believe that being able to learn about the past and the present can help us as a species prevent mistakes from repeating themselves. I want to be one of the people who is able to help the world evolve into a place where cultures are accepted by all and people are able to have freedoms without abusing them. Three reasons I am applying to the Global Studies program at Freehold Township High School are that I want to learn more about other cultures and their influences on modern society, I want to develop my public speaking skills, and I want to be able to gain a better overall understanding of the world and and how globalization plays a big part in …show more content…

I am someone who is lucky enough to get to travel to many different places. I have been to India, Australia, Israel, Canada, Mexico, etc. My parents are able to immerse me in other cultures by taking me to different places. I am able to see the daily lives of people who may not believe in the same religions as me or have different customs. When I was in India I was able to walk the streets during the Ramadan festivals. I was able to see all different Muslims paying tribute to their God by fasting and being charitable. I saw many people spending hours reading the Koran and praying to their God. I was very by this. I was able to see first hand how someone’s beliefs and culture affected their daily lives. Even though I was fortunate enough to see some cultures I want to be able to enhance my knowledge with discussions and research about more cultures around the world. Seeing how someone’s daily life is so different to mine really opened my eyes to how everyone is unique and no one lives exactly the same way. This is one of the reasons I am applying to the Global Studies
