This novel traces an extremely disparate periods in Narayan’s occupation that starts alongside ‘Talkative Man’ (1986) and wretchedly ends alongside this last novel, ‘The Globe of Nagaraj’ (1990). Living in his relations house alongside his wife Sita, Nagaraj fills his dates drinking coffee, acting odd jobs and arranging the book he aims to comprise concerning the sage Narada. But everything is agitated after Tim, the son of his land-owning brother, Gopi, decides to depart residence and come live alongside Nagaraj. Tim’s wife Saroja’s Harmonica frolicking destroys the concord of his home. His design does not fulfil, that is, the irony of the novel. The whole book brings out the predicament of a man who cannot stand up for himself and bear to trial situations in micro-cosmic globe of Malgudi.
The Globe of R K Narayan: Today R K Narayan is considered as one of the biggest Indian authors in English. He was born on 10th October, 1906 in Madras. He was literate at the Collegiate Elevated School in Mysore and at Maharaja’s college, Mysore. He worked as a educator and journalist beforehand he published his early novel. He had published fourteen novels, five collections of short reports, two travelogues and four collections of Essays and a Memoir.
