All of the characters had perfect outfits that matched the time period and the casual things that a women or man would wear back then. When I think back to civil war and reconstruction times the outfits I would think of are big wide dresses with some type of headwear for the women and a nice suit and tie for the men. I think that the standards back then were a lot higher and no matter where you go you would dress formal and that would go for men and when. Example, in the movie Rhett Butler and Ashley wore a dress shirt and pants with a tie and a dress coat just about every time they showed up. Scarlett and Melanie are two ladies to look at that always wear big puffy dresses that are very wide and wear some sort of headwear that looks like ribbon in a decorative style.

After clothing the second thing I think about if the way the movie was written up. The fact that all of this was going down during the civil war really added a little extra spice. I believe with the addition of the civil war time period it really creates two conflicts in this movie for certain characters. Some characters like Scarlett have internal and external conflicts like having to worry about her husbands and who she really loves but then has external conflicts with the yankees and having to run then off or even kill them if needed.
With two conflicts, there is always something going on and the movie always has your attention because you don’t know what is going to happen
