The book, Beowulf A New Telling, is full of adventure and excitement. It has monsters that are terrifying and heroes that save the innocent. This book depicts the struggles between good and evil and uses such great description that you feel like you are right there in the scene with monsters and Beowulf. Beowulf A New Telling has all the elements of a great story-an exciting plot, a meaningful theme, detailed character descriptions, and several resolved conflicts. In the book, Beowulf a New Telling, there is a king named Hrothgar and he builds a very beautiful hall, called hall Heorot. However, a terrible monster named Grendel destroys the hall and eats everyone protecting it. A brave man named Beowulf comes to the rescue and kills Grendel. Grendel's mother hears about Grendel’s death and in revenge, she goes to kill everyone. However, Beowulf finds her first in a pool, lulls her to sleep, and strangles her. It’s all about your persistence, willpower and good intentions. Also, I think that one of the lessons is that if you are kind to others, others will be kind to you in return. For example, Beowulf goes to Hall Heorot and saves the hall and in exchange for his kindness, King Hrothgar and Wealtheow give Beowulf many gifts. Also, the many evil people of the book such as Unferth get what they deserve. Since they don’t have any kindness in their hearts, they are killed by someone who does have a kind heart. Part of why I like this book is that there are both evil and kind people. The kind people such as Beowulf use their kindness and their love to kill the evil monsters.
