In the gospel of Matthew, these words appear. It is the instruction that Jesus gives to his apostles. He instructs them to go to every part of the world and preach the gospel to everyone, and He makes them a promise that He will be with them where ever they go (Matthew 28:19-20). Equipped with this promise the mission to carry the gospel into the world has begun. The purpose is to convert none believers to understand who God is so that they may have a relationship with Him. One term for the conversion of someone from one faith or no faith to a different faith is called proselytism.Sharma view on conversion and Christian proselytism present the idea that is necessary for those that are trying to convert another to have a solid foundation of there faith before attempting to convince someone to change from there tradition to something new. They are either missionary or none missionary. The classification of the religion is determined if it seeks converts or not. If it seeks converts, it will be a missionary religion, if not it a none missionary. The faiths that received the clarification of missionary was the Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. Those that were not is Hinduism, Perhaps, and Primal. The placement of this religion in categories is vital because it denotes if they are a faith that practices proselytism or not.
