Everyone is aware of the role that government plays in their community, especially those that become personally effected by the negative consequences of the community. The government plays many roles but the main one is to govern how we conduct ourselves in our day to day lives. “Government also establishes the conditions by which citizens can achieve their self-interests within the bounds of laws” (Mendel, p. 11). It’s the government that allows people to fight in a war at 18 but bans them from drinking until 21. The government has one of the most influential roles out of the three sectors. This public sector effects everyone that encounters it. Sometimes the effect is good, like gay marriage being allowed, but sometimes the effect is bad, like banning the CDC from using certain words in their reports. Regardless of this the government is also the sector that everyone can have a say in. The public sector is available to most to use, some people are unable to reap the benefits though, and the public can even have some sway in decisions that this sector makes.The private sector of the community is also the business end.
