Vika`s paper.doc1/ 4 Every nation absolutely need govement, people need law and order. I believe, The Founding Fathers deliberately set up a system of government that relies on the tension of preserving a series of checks and balances that are vital to its success. I also think, Lincoln abused his power beyond his jurisdiction to better the nation and ultimately won the war. Despite Congress, Lincoln took drastic steps to overcome the worst time in history of the United States.
Chris McCandless: A Reckless Idiot Chris McCandless was a reckless idiot and there is no denying that basic truth. Chris McCandless was a man born into a middle class family. Chris had parents that loved him, a roof over his head, and food to eat. Despite all those riches he had, he threw them away. Chris was a very selfish man.
Imagine a world where one person has all the power and you have to obey their every command; this is why we have a constitution to protect us from tyranny. After being under the dictatorial rule of Britain for seven years, the Colonies broke away and decided to create the Constitution to manage the government. This was an uber challenge for the delegates tasked with writing the Constitution—they wanted to create a strong government without having a despot. In multiple ways, the Constitution protects American citizens from tyranny. Tyranny is when one person or group has too much power.
Chris McCandless showed one of mankind’s most primal attractions: the attraction to danger, and how deadly it can be to follow it to the extremes. More than half of his short life seemed to have been spent chasing the final adventure; the best adventure he could possibly have. His attraction to danger started at a very young age and stayed with him till death. Chris also told many people of his fear of water because of Mexico; which was caused when he took an aluminum canoe into the ocean which is very dangerous. Also his views about the law and the future showed his pull to the adventurous and dangerous.
This document (the Federalist) will provide all the reasons to support the new plan of government described in the U.S. Constitution, and responses to each of the criticisms of the plan. Opponents to the new plan criticize it most on it creating a strong central government that will be abusive to individual liberty. However, an energetic government is crucial to the protection of individual liberty. The plan of government under the Articles of Confederation was unable to effectively protect individual liberties because it did not act directly upon the people, and had no authority to enforce its laws.
Some people would use the word reckless and arrogant to describe Chris McCandless. This is what I think of Chris McCandless, that he was courageous and adventurous. Why some people would think that Chris McCandless was reckless and arrogant is because they look at him as if he just ran into the wild not knowing anything. This is just not a fair way to judge him. He was actually very intelligent he graduated at the top of his class at Emory university.
A government’s improvement revolves solely around recognizing the rights of men: “There will never be a really free and enlightened State until the State comes to recognize the individual as a higher and independent power, from which all its own power and authority are derived, and treats him accordingly” (Thoreau, 1847/1998, p. 146). The people form the government. A
Christopher McCandless’s was a young wise man and stubborn guy that was intelligent he knew the right answers to respond which got himself out of things but also got himself into difficult situations that were not processed right. McCandless was raised in a upper middle class family in Annandale Virginia by parents Walt and Billie. He had eight siblings which one he was super close to named Carine and the rest were half siblings from his dads first marriage. Growing up Chris had a rough childhood with his parents problems and the affairs they had. McCandless would question himself why people would treat each other bad he would try to make a sense of the world.
Granted that the government has an excessive amount of power, there has to be a limit somewhere down the line. Many people disagree with what the government has to offer and what they stand for. Not only is the government strongly disliked in the real world but also in fictional novels such as Brave New World. Brave New World, an utopian novel that takes place in London, has a community that has been industrialized. There are only a couple of people that are at the top of the World Sate, meaning they have the power to control others.
One piece of evidence that demonstrates McCandless’ attitude toward the government was that McCandless does not really care for the government rules. Reason so is that when his car battery died rather than going to the rangers to ask for help he did not, reason so is because he did not want to be asked questions. “If he went to the rangers… they would have some irksome questions for him: Why had he ignored posted regulations and driven down the wash in the first place? Was he aware that the vehicles registration had expired two years before and had not been renewed? Did he know that his driver’s license had also expired, and the vehicle was uninsured as well?”
The great philosopher John Locke stated the following: “Education begins the gentleman, but reading, good company, and reflection must finish him.” In our society many people believe that the government has too much say in the overall society, but in the world of dystopian novels, the government's role in society becomes a much bigger problem. From looking into dystopian novels such as Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Anthem by Ayn Rand we can see that if a government has too much control over a society it can have drastic negative impacts. From reading and looking into these dystopian novels, it is easy to see that governments may have too much control over their societies. This can be seen by looking at what the essential tasks of government
Separation of Powers and Checks in Balances are examples of organized government. This is to carried in a way that is designed that the people cannot simply take over and carry their own rules to over power society. Overall just keeps society structured and well maintained. Thomas Paine opposes the ideology of government, stating that, “Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil,” (Paine 3). Essentially, the purpose of government is to protect people from preforming vices, and defend their natural right to Locke’s ideology of life, liberty and property. Without government, coercion would occur, and destroy one’s ability to express their natural rights. For America, Paine believes that the establishment of a strong fundamental government could allow for the cohesion of citizens to form a society respected by other nations
