I went to a graduate school workshop on February 22nd presented by Sharisse Robinson, Assistant Director of Counseling Services for the Student Support Services. I went to this workshop to gain more information on how to graduate school and about what graduate school is like overall. For instance, what are the classes like, how to interact with the professors, and most importantly how be competitive in a graduate program. It was very informational the workshop gave a lot of resources about the application process like what entrance exams that is required based on the certain schools, and about how to market yourself to be able to actually get into the program, how important it is to get the whole application in to the school before the deadline, …show more content…
Financing a graduate program was an aspect of the graduate process that I was worried about especially after I found out that graduate students aren’t eligible for Pell Grants, but the workshop was very clear with how to look for scholarships, assistantships, as well as loans she also told us that applying early will help in having a higher chance in receiving an assistantship or a scholarship. Because of the area of work, I want to go into after I graduate having an assistantship will be very beneficial for me, because I can get some hands-on training and experience in working in a higher education setting and that could help me better market
