The Grand Canyons are located in Arizona and is 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and attains a depth of over a mile. Many scientist say that the canyons were created due to earthquakes, erosion, and rain. But were they really?
Hypnos is the god of sleep. Rumors have it that when he slept, he snored so loud that it caused the world to shake.Now days everyone believes he married Pasithea, but is it true? This unknown fact lead everyone to believe Hypnos was a good guy. He wasn’t. Before marrying Pasithea, he was head over heels for Cybele, the goddess of caverns, mountains, wild animals, and nature. Cybele was the only girl he ever wanted to be with. Turns out, Cybele was head over heels for Zeus, even though he was much older than her.
Not only was Cybele stuck on Zeus, Hypnos was not going to take no for an answer. Hypnos got ready and went to town to see Cybele and take her home. When Cybele was not looking, Hypnos took advantage of her and put her in a deep sleep. …show more content…

It did not take long for the two to begin fighting. They fought over the stupidest things such as clothes, food, and even who slept on the bed. One year into the marriage, the two grew apart and began falling out of love. After a long day of fighting, Hypnos fell into a deep sleep. He snored so loud that it created a huge earthquake which destroyed the mountain Cybele had created. It caused a landslide which destroyed the middle of the mountain, created a large gap.
Hypnos eventually died to the lack of food and water. Cybele took advantage of the canyon and decided to add scenery to it. She made a river flow through the middle, made wildlife present, and added plant life surrounding the canyon. Days later, Cybele died to suffocation and was never heard from again.
Today we see the Grand Canyon as natures beauty. What we do not know is love’s downside created this beauty we visit in Arizona. To this day, people admire the canyons
