Furthermore, The Act 5 and Scene 1 is between two Gravediggers. They are digging the grave of Ophelia and at the same time protesting of why they will do a Christian sepulture to her if she took her own life (5.1.1). Then Hamlet that was observing them asked, who the grave is? The gravedigger answered “For no man, sir” and then Hamlet asked again, “what woman then? the final answer of the gravedigger is what could be considered a “joke,” For none, neither”, “One that was a woman, sir” (5.1.135). This type of comedy or jokes is appropriate for the play because it points out in a humorous way the problems that are happening in the palace, for instance, ambition and corruption.
