I. Introduction The United States is founded on the concept of Liberty. As expressed in the Constitution, all United States citizens are entitled to the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These values have been endlessly challenged throughout history in an attempt to determine where freedom should end and where government regulation might begin.
It took dedication, hardship, and the lives of many to gain our independence. Liberty gives us equal rights and the capability to have the same potential
Liberty has the definition of the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views. This means the right to be free in a country. America had trouble with finding how liberty can be a part of the country. The fight for liberty was difficult to obtain because America had the break from Great Britain, needed to build a country from scratch, and come together as a country. America was not always a free country.
Liberty Or Death It can be hard wanting to make a change within a whole country, and to lead a revolution can be a difficult task. During the revolutionary times Americans wanted their freedom from Great Britain, but most people of those days were uneducated and possibly full of fear for change, but all they needed somebody to influence them and show a little emotion towards them it would be more relatable to them. I used Patrick Henry’s “Speech to the Virginia Convention” the persuasive technique used is pathos, many people were angry when Henry told them the truth of what will happen if they trust the British, and readied them for a war they will have to fight.
Liberty is being free of restrictions that is set on you for certain beliefs, groups. For example, in California if a frog dies during a jumping contest you can not eat it. That is a restriction has to be payed to enforce. Although it might have seemed reasonable at the time to keep competitors from other frogs in the contest , it now it can give you a chuckle when you read it.
Another freedom important to me is being to enjoy myself without any fear of the government. In America you can do what you want as long as it is legal and can 't be punished by the government without a fair trial if you are accused of a crime.
Will the decision to turn the $2 million dollars over to the George Steinbrenner be beneficial or will donating it to a charitable foundation be better suited? This is the question we were faced with when reading on the concept of Utilitarianism. This question can be answered either way, but most importantly this concept allows us to make those decisions and determine the positive and negative outcomes of our moral conscience. With any decision in life there will be positive and negative outcomes such as: studying or not studying, blowing people off, or a difficult decision as a Commanding Officer in the Navy or Marine Corps.

James Madison believed in Liberty, but what is liberty? James Madison demonstrated liberty by holding on to his belief of checks and balances. Checks and balances would protect the minority from the domination of the majority.
The first to fall in the category of liberty is freedom of speech, commonly we are entitled to the freedom to say what's on our minds. But to protect that right we had to, not only make it clear, but to emphasize the significance by placing it in the very first amendment. Along with freedom of religion, press, petition and assembly, they are free to be expressed in anyway without being influenced from the government. The Oxford dictionary defines liberty as “The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behaviour, or political views.” Not only is this one of the core values ingrained into the base of our American culture, but it is also one of the main characteristics of a successful community (“First Amendment.”) Many societies argue that citizens do not have basic rights, the first amendment does the best job at protecting the nation's rights from the government by giving individuals freedom of speech, religion, and freedom of petition. To end, the concept of liberty is highly dependent on the belief in the natural law when creating a government. Natural law was created from the state of nature that originates from God 's moral law. Like it is God 's law then no matter what type of ruling, the natural law is something that everyone is bound to live under. When a government is founded under the natural law like America, then our founder fathers are quoting God. God made the natural law during the state of nature.
